Did you know there was a country in the Caribbean that ranked one of the lowest in the world in terms of COVID deaths per million? Welcome back to another episode where I help younger physicians decrease stress and increase income by transitioning from corporate to independent practices, even without any business experience. Yes. And that country was Haiti. So this was very intriguing to me during the pandemic when in the United States, people were seem to have been dying of COVID.
between 2021 and 2020, actually 2020 and 2022. And in Haiti, things were not seemingly as bad as they were in the United States. And looking at the numbers, now that we're past this pandemic, the United States had 3,596 deaths per million. And Haiti only had 75 deaths per million.
And that is a staggering number. And some people say that it's because Haiti doesn't report their numbers right. And things were not clear as far as testing and who was getting tested. But let me tell you, if there were 3,000 people dying in Haiti per million in a population of 10 million, I think we'd know about it. I want to say that there must be something else that happened in Haiti.
something good as we know that there's so many bad things happening in our country and We'd like to kind of highlight the good as well And so Haiti must have been doing something good and I I wish there was more research on this But there is not that much So when you look at other countries like in Africa and they they were they also had low deaths per million
China reports 85 deaths per million, South Africa and Russia was over thousand, Russia having 2,745 deaths per million. that's this week's, you know episode? Yeah. Haiti had one of the lowest death rates from COVID-19 as per the Our World in Data website.
